GAY RIGHTS: Speak Truth in Love

As an African-American, I am offended that some people say the quest for special laws forBishopChipp_71x100 homosexuals are equivalent to the civil rights struggle that Black People have experienced here in the U.S. and other places. First, being born with a dark skin pigment is an act of creation (God), not a choice, nor a behavioral mandate (sexual or otherwise). African-Americans have been denied basic human and civil rights based solely on their skin color, not because of a behavioral choice. Those who propose special rights for those who engage in homosexuality claim they are engaged in a civil rights struggle like the “Black Man!” However, where and when have homosexuals been enslaved for their sexual preferences here in the U.S.? When have homosexuals been denied jobs, told to use separate toilets, sit at the back of the bus, or denied opportunities to prosper in life here in the U.S. in an institutionalized manner, over such an extended amount of time? The list of things Blacks have had to endure go on and on, none of which those whom are homosexuals have had to endure. Perhaps more disturbing to me is how the African-American community has allowed those who are proponents of the homosexual agenda to hitch their wagon to the African-American Struggle, and hijack, and pervert a great historical struggle and victory. It is particularly disturbing to me that our Black Leaders, and supposedly vanguard black leadership organizations, have allowed this to happen, and even agree with it. I am encouraged though as I witnessed today a group of leaders in Detroit, take a stand publicly on this issue. I pray we see and hear more of our leaders taking this righteous stand publicly

As a Christian, I believe the Bible is the Word of God, and that homosexuality is immoral and a sin. Personally, I would not make laws that persecute, imprison, or kill people because of their sexual orientation [except where they brake the laws of the land like anyone else]. However, neither would I make special laws to give them special rights because of their sexual preferences; no more than I would make special laws for fornicators, adulterers, thieves, drunkards, and extortioners, so they could legally engage in such behavior. And I certainly would not call these choices a civil right! It is clear from the Word of God (Holy Bible) that morally and spiritually, these behaviors are unacceptable .

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  – 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

I believe as a Christian we should teach, preach, and live according to the Bible’s instructions, and encourage those who practice behavior contrary to its’ teachings to do the same. In fact, we must stand our ground (maintaining the biblical standard), and at the same time, continue to love those who practice such, pray for them, and exercise our faith  that they repent and be delivered from such lifestyles. God loves people who engage in the above mentioned lifestyles, but He hates their sin, and has made provision for repentance and deliverance through faith in the Person of Jesus Christ! Just as you and I have repented of some of the things mentioned in the scripture given above in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and have been forgiven and delivered, so can others presently involved in the homosexual lifestyle.

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. -1 Corinthians 6:11

Many of us have people in our families that struggle with immoral behavior, but we still love them, and want to see them healed or delivered from such. This should be our attitude towards homosexuals and homosexuality. We should not excuse nor promote it, but rather forgive it when repentance is expressed.

From a Health perspective, I know there are medical issues that result from a man having sexual relations with a man, and a woman having sexual relations with a woman. A man’s rectum is not made for penetration by another man’s penis, and I’m sure there are unhealthy consequences (which I will spare you of in this writing) to such behavior. I often wonder what kind of statistics are being recorded, but being hidden from the public eye, on all the medical ills that result from such actions. However in todays environment, a study of this kind would not be politically correct (PC), no matter how damaging the results would reveal of the homosexual lifestyle.

 Finally, It is my prayer that all people [Christians, leaders, politicians, educators, etc.] who believe that the homosexual lifestyle is immoral, would have the COURAGE to take a stand publicly against it, and speak out against it. At the same time, demonstrating the love which God calls for in the Bible.; Treating homosexuals with the same love, respect, and compassion we would have on our own brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, relatives and friends. Besides, if the truth be told, they are our sons, daughters, sisters, and brothers, etc. So called “Gay Rights” have become so “PC” that now news commentators are more afraid of being called a homophobe than they are of being called a racist! May you find the courage to speak the truth in love, and not cower down to the pressures and whims of a deceived politically correct society.
