Sometimes life can get un-expectantly twisted! You can find yourself surprisingly off-course. When you think about your situation or circumstance you may not even remember or know when things got so twisted and you surely can’t see how to get things un-twisted. Perhaps you’re someone who is definitely not a quitter, but just tired of pushing forward with that “twisted feeling” in your gut. Could it be time to hit the “Re-Set” button? Sometimes our relationships, finances, careers, etc. can become so twisted that the only wise thing to do is to hit the “Re-set” button.
Listen, I didn’t say hit the “panic” button or the “quit” button. I’m definitely not saying hit the “end” button. Hitting the “Re-set” button gets us back to a baseline or place in our thinking, believing, attitudes and actions where things are known to work properly. One of the biggest challenges to hitting the “Re-set” button in our lives is pride. We have to be willing to admit that things have gotten twisted, whether it is our own doing or because of the interference or actions of another, or both.
Don’t allow pride to convince you that hitting the “Re-set” button will cause you to lose everything! That all your hard work, time invested and labor will be lost. Certainly there is a loss of some time, resources and energies when we hit the “Re-set” button, but that is just the cost of getting some things un-twisted. The cost to you will be greater if you don’t hit the “Re-set” button and continue on the same twisted path. Yes, hitting the “Re-Set” button may cost you time, money, and statue, but if you don’t, it could cost you your destiny or life! Hitting the “Re-set” button is not a “setback”, it’s a “get-back!”
Hitting the “Re-Set” button means getting back to that place in Christ and with God where things were working and not twisted, despite the challenges. Sometimes as believers we can allow ourselves or some area of our lives to get twisted. This is what Jesus said to the Church at Ephesus in the book of Revelation 2:4-5: ” Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first[Re-do] works;or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Hitting the Spiritual “Re-Set” button means getting back to a place where loving God is your first priority! Hitting the Spiritual “Re-Set” button means making a conscious decision to (1)remember, (2)repent, and (3) re-do the first works.
Remember that spiritual place and time in your life when you were on fire for God. When people didn’t have to beg you to serve God because you had already volunteered! Remember when you served God not to impress man but to please God. If things are twisted, repent. Don’t make excuses and blame others. Just make it about you and God and repent. Ask God to forgive you. Be sure to release or forgive others! Redo the first works. Get back to praying, serving, and giving. Get back to church!
Even Abram[Abraham] had to hit the “Re-set” button in his life when things got a little twisted! In Genesis chapter 12, the bible says Abraham went down into Egypt (vs 10) because of a famine that arose in the land of Canaan that God had promised him. Abraham got in trouble with Pharoah because he lied about Sarai being his wife to save his own hide! Thank God Abraham had enough sense to hit the “Re-set” button and get back to that place of promise and blessing in God. Genesis chapter 13:1 tells us that Abraham went up out of Egypt. Egypt(in this context) is a type of the world[world system]. The world[system] can be defined as that community of sinful humanity that is opposed to God and the ways of God. Abraham didn’t just leave Egypt, but went up back to the place where he had pitched his tent and built an altar unto the LORD in the beginning( vs 3); before he went down into Egypt and things got all twisted.
Hitting the Spiritual “Re-Set” button, that is – remembering, repenting and re-doing the first works will keep us from being removed from our destiny in Christ. We don’t want Jesus to remove our candlestick out of his place (Revelation 2:5)! Remember, hitting the Spiritual “Re-Set” button is not a “set-back,” it’s a “get-back!”
I like and appreciate this blog. Spiritually re-set you life so that u get back 2 being God focused instead of self, person, thing or place focused. Remove focus from the world and get back your focus on God. Thanks Bishop.
Hi Saundra,
Great observation! You’re right, hitting the spiritual “Re-Set” button does involve a re-focus!

I was so excited by this blog because it is essentially the same message my pastor has been teaching for the past several weeks. I have truly been inspired to chase after my first love! Thanks for giving me this double portion.
